Teen Internship Program (Ages 16 - 18)

Are you looking for a different kind of employment experience? Would you like to have an opportunity to work in a professional office environment? The Teen Interships Program can offer you that opportunity.

As an intern for the City of Kent, you will experience working with professionals in thier field of expertise. 

The Internships are:

  • Part-time
  • Office assistant positions
  • Allotted 100 hours per intern
  • Minimum wage jobs
  • Perfect for teens with little or no experience
  • Available throughout the school year only

 

 

 

How do I apply?

Students interested in the Teen Internship Program must submit:

  • A cover letter
  • A resume
  • City of Kent application for employment
  • Grade Transcripts from your most recent quarter
  • Attendance Records from your most recent quarter

Program offers teens:

  • A Paid Internship!
  • Work experience
  • Help with your Portfolio.
  • Networking opportunities.
  • Possibility for future internships or job leads
  • Possible letter of recommendation
  • Career development and mentoring

How does it work?

Students involved in TIPs will be required to:

  • Meet with Teen Employment Specialist
  • Report to work on time
  • Complete all tasks assigned
  • Have reliable transportation to and from work
  • Report their own hours and turn in timesheets on time
  • Ask questions and learn about the department in which you are involved
  • Report to the Teen Employment Specialist with any questions, concerns or comments
  • Explore your interests!
