Newcomers Social

Whether or not you receive a personal phone invitation, you are welcome to our quarterly Newcomer’s Social to meet staff and other new attendees, see a brief video, learn about programs, activities and services available, take a brief tour and win a set of Starbucks mugs.  For more information, please call Helena at 253-856-5164.

Seeking Vocal Ensemble Singers

Pineapple Express Ukulele Christmas Carols

Our own Ukulele Jam session participants (recently named Pineapple Express) will present a mini-concert of Christmas Carols (Hawaiian style) during our Koffee Klatch time.  Christmas Carol singalong session immediately following Koffee Klatch during lunch.

Christmas Carol Sing Along with Jee Wong

Pianist Jee Wong will play holiday tunes and lead a sing-along of Christmas carols during our regular self-served lunch time from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm on Monday, December 7 in the Social Hall.  This special show will feature musical games and special requests as well as holiday door prizes.
$6 for lunch ticket available on a first come first served basis the day of the event

Karaoke with Marlene

Osteoporosis Screening & Video Educational Program

Monday, December 14, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Come join us to get the inside story on bone loss and postmenopausal; osteoporosis and ways to help effectively prevent or treat this serious health problem. The Senior Network and sanofi-aventis are sponsoring this FREE educational program.  There will be an 18 minute video presentation shown every hour and a certified diagnostic technician will be available to conduct heel screenings.  Please let the front desk know if you plan on attending this valuable program.

Russia’s Version of the Space Shuttle

This video, compliments of Jim Minty, shows the evolution of Russia's space station and the enormous plane they built to transport it. Participants may enter to win a scale model of this plane after the video.

Christmas Luncheon

Kent Firefighters Luncheon honoring Volunteers

Friday, December 18, Noon

The Kent Firefighters Foundation will honor Kent Senior Activity Center volunteers at their seasonal luncheon.  Advanced tickets will be available from Monday, November 23 until Monday, November 30 for registered volunteers who have been recording hours on a regular basis. Remaining tickets will be available (limit 2) on a first come-first served basis beginning Tuesday, December 1.  Entertainment provided by the Fairwood Elementary musical students of Mr. Wills.  Special thanks to the Kent Firefighters Foundation for providing complimentary tickets as well as serving and cleaning up for this event.  Wait list coupons are available after all tickets have all been distributed.  Coupon holders will receive a complimentary lunch after 12:10 pm as space is available.

Aegis Living New Year’s Pre Eve Ball

Get your reserved table seating tickets while they last and plan to attend our second annual New Year's Pre Eve Ball, co-sponsored again by Aegis Living. Those with reserved seating tickets will be escorted to their tables first but additional tickets may be available at the door. Festive live music is provided by Evan and Charlie Brown, refreshments and decor are compliments of Aegis Living. Special thanks to the Kent Meridian High School National Honor Society members for setting up, hosting, serving and cleaning up after this event.

Drama Dollie’s + One Skits and Music Presentations

Monday, January 25, 1:15 – 2:15 pm

This fun-loving group of amateur senior thespians returns to present an afternoon of comedy, drama and music through their skits and short plays entitled Moon over Buffalo, Concerned Citizens, Golden Arches and Seen.  Presenters include:   Joan Henzi, Arline Cook, Pat Houston, Mel Lundberg, Sheila Woodward, Mary Jo Hoffman, Rita Wetzler and Lloyd Coble. Formerly led by founder Michelle Gillette, the group is directed by Henry Hart.

Recycled Greeting Card Club

Monday, February 8, 1:00 – 4:00 pm

If you are interested in creating recycled greeting cards, please put this date on your calendar.  Mary Lou Oslau will facilitate this club if interest is shown.  If you'd like to be involved but cannot attend this inaugural meeting, please call Helena at 253-856-5164.

Arbor Village Winter Luncheon Mini Dance by Encore

Friday, February 12, Noon

By request, Darrel Larsen and his musical act Encore are back to provide a Valentine's Day mini concert/dance of old fashioned love songs.  After lunch is served, guests may listen or dance to these nostalgic romantic tunes. Seating by ticket number until 12:10 pm when space may be resold.

Save the Date for Spring Luncheon featuring America’s Got Talent stars

Final arrangements are being made for the Stafford Suites Spring Luncheon set for Friday, March 19.  Details will be in the spring bulletin and tickets for this event will be available when bulletin is available.  Featured entertainers are the fabulous ballroom dancers Erik and Rickie who, at the ages of 8 and 9 were semi-finalists in the recent America's Got Talent TV show and are raising funds to offset their traveling expenses to world-wide competitions.
