Kruzin' Kent Results

Kent and Covington partnered with this summer program in 2009 to offer PLAY HARD, EAT SMART and LEARN activities in both communities.  We completed the program in September and are excited to announce the winner of the 2009 Summertime Cruzin’ Covington and Kruzin’ Kent Challenge!

Congratulations to you all!  Your support and participation helped to get one more healthy tool into the hands of our children and learn to know that their health is important.

Congratulations to our top 3 School winners:

  • Crestwood Elementary - Grand prize winner of $1000 to be applied toward PE Equipment, awarded by Univar USA
  • Sawyer Woods Elementary - 2nd place winner receives $100 Fred Meyer gift certificate and a pool party.
  • Martin Sortun Elementary - 3rd place winner receives $75 Target gift certificate, library books and a certificate to the PE teacher from Roadrunner Sports.

Congratulations to our top Kruzin’ Kent students who earned 100 or more stamps!  They are Nicole and Alex Glaser of Lake Young Elementary, Michael Javelli of Sunrise Elementary, and Blanca, Janelle and Emma Germer of Glenridge Elementary.  For a list of all the kids and schools, click here to download the sheet.

Other participating Kruzin’ Kent schools were East Hill, Emerald Park, Fairwood, Glenridge, Mt. View Academy, Lake Young, Millennium, Panther Lake, Pine Tree, Scenic Hill, Springbrook, Sunrise and WAVA.

All the participating kids received a back pack full of goodies.  Other prizes were awarded to the participating students with the most stamps.

A Mighty "Thank You" to:

  • Our local businesses who have very generously sponsored and donated prizes so that we can encourage those students who went above the rest in staying active and helped stamp the children’s passports all summer long.
  • Multicare and Valley Medical who funded this program with the knowledge that more active and educated children make healthier choices, which will help curb the rate of childhood obesity.
  • The Cities of Kent and Covington who partnered full force to provide many of the activities that kept the children active.

We'll see you next year!
