Green River/Howard Hanson Dam
A higher risk of flooding exists in the Green River Valley
Many homes, businesses, and farms are in harm's way if the Green River experiences serious flooding
- Due to water seeping more rapidly through an earthen embankment next to the Howard Hanson Dam after record high water in the first part of 2009
- The Howard Hanson Dam is managed by the Army Corps of Engineers
- The US Army Corps of Engineers must limit the amount of flood water it stores behind the dam
