Class Descriptions

First Aid/Adult CPR Class

This course teaches rescuers to effectively recognize and treat adult emergencies in the critical first minutes until emergency medical service personnel arrive. Some rescuers are required to take this course as part of their employer’s efforts to comply with OSHA regulations.

The CPR portion of the class is American Heart Association Heartsaver Adult CPR and will teach lay rescuers how to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest and choking. Students will learn to recognize the warning signs of heart attack and stroke in adults. The participant must pass a written examination and practical testing of their skills to satisfy the course requirements and obtain the certification card. This class is intended for non-medical persons wishing to learn basic adult CPR and who need to be certified in CPR training in order to comply with their employer’s requirements for OSHA regulations.
