Fire Community Care and Awareness

The Kent Fire Department participates in community awareness in addition to many community events each year. Community events are an important part of our interaction with residents in our emergency response area.

Community Awareness

Blood pressure checks

We urge and welcome you to stop by one of our fire stations to have your blood pressure checked. There is no charge for this service.

Blood sugar checks

Please stop by any of our fire stations to have your blood sugar tested. There is no charge for this service.

Community Events

Station tours and show & tells

The firefighters conduct tours of fire stations and participate in show and tells at local schools and community events, and are designed to aid in educating individuals, families, and children on the importance of fire safety. To schedule a station tour or show & tell, please call (253) 856-4300.

Toys For Joy

Toys for Joy is a holiday gift and food program for families and children, in need, in the Kent area, held in conjunction with the Kent Food Bank, the Firefighters union and other local agencies. The Kent Fire Department holds a toy drive, gift wrapping parties, and concludes the season by delivering the gifts to the Kent Food Bank. Additional information will be available in mid-November.

Cornucopia Days

The fire department participates in Cornucopia Days, a large street fair in Kent, each July. Citizens are taught and given information on the importance of fire safety and emergency preparedness. Also, you might get a peek at the inside of a fire engine or ladder truck!
