Transportation Planning

The City implements, and regularly updates, a range of transportation plans in order to meet the transportation needs of our growing residential and business community.  Through these planning efforts, individual, short-term decisions support strategic, long-term objectives.

Short Range Planning

 2011 Six Year TIP  Six Year Transportation Improvement Project (TIP) Plan.  The Six-Year TIP is a short-range planning document, containing a list of transportation improvement projects, that is annually updated based on needs and policies identified through a variety of sources.

 

Long Range Planning

TMP  The Transportaton Master Plan (TMP) serves as the City’s blueprint for long range transportation planning.  The TMP includes, among other items, an inventory of the existing system; level of service standards; transportation demand management strategies; future improvement needs; and a multi-year financing plan for improvements.

 

 The Transportation Master Plan is comprised of several formal sub-plans, reports, and studies including:   

 

TIF Rate Study   Traffic Impact Fee Rate Study  This report summarizes the policy and technical development of a Transportation Impact Fee program for the City of Kent. This report describes the impact fee program methodology and the resulting recommendations. 

 

 NonMotorizedStudy  Non-motorized Transportation Study (NMTS) the NMTS provides a comprehensive strategy to enhance the urban area pedestrian and bicycle system. This effort was initiated by the City as part of a multi-modal Transportation Master Plan effort. 

  

TransitStudy   Transit Study  The Kent Transit Study recommends service improvements that provide local circulation in the City of Kent and that connect Kent residents to other regional communities. This effort was initiated by the City as part of a multi-modal Transportation Master Plan effort.

  

CTR Plan  Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) Plan The CTR Plan is a collection of Transportation Demand Management goals, policies, and marketing strategies for how the City will work to reduce drive alone trips and vehicle miles traveled. 

  

TransportationElement   Transportation Element (TE) of the Comprehensive Plan The TE works in concert with the Transportation Master Plan to provide direction for the planning of motorized and non-motorized facilities within Kent, identify level of service standards, and identify future improvement needs and a multi-year financing plan based on those needs.
