Kent to add 24,000 People

Annexation Area Voters Pass Proposition 1

Effective July 1, 2010, Kent will become the sixth largest city in the state.  A plan to add approximately 24,000 people to Kent – growing its population from 88,380 to 112,380 was passed by voters with a simple majority of 3,330 to 2,574, roughly 56 percent to 43 percent.

Annexation Zoning Process

Prior to the effective date of annexation, the Kent City Council must adopt map designations for future planning and zoning.  The City of Kent is undertaking an open public process to accomplish this State-mandated set of legislative actions.  If you live in the Panther Lake Annexation Area, we want to hear from you!  To stay informed, bookmark this page or sign up for web alerts.

Where is the Annexation Area

The annexation area is located east of the city limits of Kent, on the west plateau of Soos Creek.  Encompassing an area of five square miles and a population of approximately 24,000, the area includes the communities of Benson Hill and Panther Lake as well as neighborhoods near Soos Creek Park.
